8. The Pixies - Here Comes Your Man
9. Parliament - Mothership Connection
10. Keith Jarrett Trio - The Out-of-Towners

My first final exam was today, and although I don't want to turn this week's worth of posts into "Oh god, my exams, my exams!", there was one part of the exam that made me laugh out loud in a room full of quiet, nervous students. Our professor, in order to test our knowledge about the cranial nerves, formulated a question where she "re-told" the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and had us fill in the blanks using cranial nerves. Which lead to the following post-examination exchange:
Meg: What did you put for "The prince used ___ to kiss Snow White"?
Me: Cranial Nerve VII.
Meg: Me too, but I couldn't remember it at first. So I almost put down Cranial Nerve XII, because it could have been a French kiss...
Mike: Yeah. "CN VII, but CN XII if the prince was really friendly."

Okay, so speech science jokes don't really work outside their context. But if I was the prof, I would give him extra marks.

The cranial nerves jokes made me laugh out loud - it translates outside of speech science but since I'm a med student I figure that it's still staying at a particular level of geekdom. Soooo funny - that prof rules!

I had to take psych physio a couple of years ago. He of course had the question: "If a tree falls in the forest and there's no one there to hear it does it make a sound?" And this was a legitimate question.
