The Peach and I Go Shopping!

This Sunday The Peach and I went out to the Old Strathcona Antique Mall to blow off a little steam and enjoy the sights. I will admit, I never thought I'd be a fan of "antiquing", but it's fascinating to see what people have in their little corners. There were old Whiz! comics from the 40s, framed original nudes of Marilyn Monroe ("tastefully" censored and untouched), old birdcages, tobacco cans, firearms, and signed sports equipment, to name but a handful. There are also really bizarre and ridiculous things there as well. So when we went this Sunday I brought my camera, and here are some of the real finds.

For when you really need to crack a hard case.

A Fonzie Fun Fact from this book: Henry Winkler once kicked a stray dog on the set of Happy Days. It was played on TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes. *

The only creature powerful enough to contain eight bears? Tony the Tiger, of course!

In the Great Depression, the best option for many labourers was to try and hitch a ride on the Cookie Train.

A great gift for kids! (That you don't like very much.)

Those aren't all the pictures, but they're the ones that turned out the best. Who knows, I might make a semi-habit of this photojournalism. Because ther are some WIERD things afoot at the Antique Mall.

* - This is untrue.

I love the antique mall. Me and the Hall typically went there a couple times of month if we were on the ball. I never really bought anything other than some cool old toys, but it's always fun to wander around.

They probably STILL have the same old wrestling figures that never sold in the two years I lived in etown. lol

I am real sad to find out the Fonzie thing is untrue. I was about to tell the world.

You should really check out the flea market on 111 Ave and 119 Street. 'TIS AWESOME.

I was reading Sy the part of your post about Fonzie kicking a dog. She said there must have been a good reason for him to do it. I suggested that the reason was because he was a jerk.

Later I finished reading your post and found out the thing about the dog wasn't true. Sy told me, "See?!? Always have faith in the Fonz!"

Can I get an "Aaaayyyyyyyy!"?
