At The Druid today, while we were setting up for our performance - the second in one weekend - we realized that we showed up half an hour early, so we got some menus and some drinks. Our waitress, a keen judge of character, decided that in order to maximize her tips she needed to a) flirt like crazy with Jago, and b) be a gigantic smartass to me. It was incredible; she called Jago two nicknames and caressed his shoulder at least five times in the span of half an hour, and when I asked her if I could get a refill on my coffee, she refused - only to tell Jago that he could get my refill. It was very amusing.
Especially when, after our second set, she came down to the table where I was studying, sat down on a stool, and announced that "Okay, we can be friends." I mean, she was working at the bar, and she sat down to talk to me. She got me drinks very often throughout the night, and started calling me "sweetheart". It got her a good tip, that's for sure. And hey, it's not often a guy at a bar who's doing sound wave analysis gets flirted with at all.
