I was watching television last night (GOD, but I love Alton Brown), and this add for coffee creamer came on television. A little boy pulling the string on his duck over and over again, "quack quack quack", and then an invisible person drinks a cup of coffee, and the slogan's something like "Escape from your life." But the scary thing? Just before they tell you the slogan, they do this quick montage: pop the lid of creamer, cut to pouring it in the coffee, cut to stirring it, cut to drinking it. And all I could think of was the addiction montages in Requiem for a Dream. I know it's subtle, but it was really weird: are they telling people their coffee creamer is addictive? Should that be a selling point?
