I don't think we're in Kansas anymore

Last night I watched another episode of Smallville. I have such a schizophrenic love-hate relationship with that show: it's really poorly written, but my comic book roots keep pulling me back to it. I already talked about last episode, Aqua, and the introduction of Aquaman. That episode was also no less notable for the appearance of Lois Lane, played by the lovely Erica Durance, in a skimpy red bikini. The show's done things like this before, with underwear-clad Lanas and shirtless Clarks, and even a terribly awkward sex scene earlier this season. The cheesecake had always been overshadowed by the beefcake, though, so I was glad to see the pendulum swing in the other direction.

This Sunday's episode was entitled Exposed, and I thought it would be the most notable for the reunion of Jon Schneider (Pa Kent) and Tom Wopat. I was greatly mistaken. The jist of the episode was that some strippers were being killed and Chloe and Lana snuck into the gentlemen's club where the stripper worked. Upon their discovery, Chloe says that Lana is there as a replacement dancer, which culminates in Lois swinging around a pole wearing American-flag-patterned underwear. As much as I hate how much the show is playing to the lowest common denominator, I would be lying if I wasn't a little more interested in next week's episode than usual.

You know, that John Schneider fellow looks an awful lot like someone I know... maybe it's the hair...
