One more cup of coffee ’fore I go to the valley below...

My coffee maker is on its last legs. I've noticed it making very scary noises the past few days while churning up my daily pot, and it took almost 15 minutes to make 3 cups of coffee earlier this evening for my date with Gwyn. My coffee maker has seen me through some hard times for over four years, including 5 finals weeks, 2 breakups, and easily 2 dozen writing crunches. I just hope it can hold out until my last exam on the 20th, and then she can retire with honour just before Christmas. In the meantime, I need to be on the lookout for a replacement model. There are a couple I have my eye on (and one that's just a dream), but your first coffee maker is like your first girlfriend: she may not have been the best choice at the time, but it's hard finding another to take her place.

My first coffee maker was a cheap $10 Mr. Coffee, so I didn't really mind replacing it. But we just had to replace an excellent Braun machine we'd gotten as an engagement present several years ago.

The wife picked out the new one and it's almost too complicated -- it has a bean grinder inside the coffee maker, for crying out loud. Still, it comes through with the goods and feeds the caffeine addiction, so who am I to complain?

My first coffee maker was also a $10 Mr. Coffee that I bought 15 years ago. Even though it still works just fine, I replaced it this summer with a French press and I love it!! I think the coffee tastes so much better, and I can just make a couple of cups for myself. Love it!
