Update

I found out last night that the reason that all the police were in my neighborhood was that there was a shooting in an apartment building about half a block away. Three guys were drinking, an argument broke out, one shot another in the leg. The police responded to reports of gunfire, and when I finally poked my head outside they were looking for one of the guys who had left the apartment. So not nearly as scary as I'd thought it might be. For anyone (like Justice) who was worried, no need. It was just my imagination overreacting.
